Prima del dottorato in Lingue e Letterature Straniere Moderne, conseguito presso l'Università degli Studi di Pavia nel 2015, Vera Cantoni si è laureata in Lettere Moderne, orientamento di Discipline dello Spettacolo, presso l'Università degli Studi di Pisa, e diplomata in Discipline Filologiche e Linguistiche Moderne presso la Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa.
Fra il 2016 e il 2022 è stata con brevi intervalli assegnista di ricerca e dal 2018/19 al 2020/21 ha insegnato Civiltà Inglese all'Università degli Studi di Pavia.
I suoi principali interessi di ricerca sono la drammaturgia britannica contemporanea, la storia scenica delle opere di Shakespeare e il rapporto fra teatro e oralità.
