Focus della ricerca è il lifelong learning nel contesto del dibattito politico internazionale così come articolato dalle odierne knowledge societies.In particolare, si concentra sul ruolo del diritto umano all'educazione come conditio sine qua non di sviluppo umano in tutte le società.
Oltre al dibattito interno all'Unione europea sul lifelong e lifewide learning, segue con particolare attenzione e interesse l'attività dell'UNESCO di advocacy in favore del diritto umano all'educazione.
La ricerca, che essenzialmente intende mettere in luce la dimensione politica dell'educazione, ha come fonte privilegiata i documenti pubblicati dalle istanze internazionali che, a vario titolo, si occupano di education, lifelong learning e lifewide learning. Una delle sfide principali della ricerca ,di conseguenza, è il continuo aggiornamento allo scopo di seguire in presa diretta la produzione documentale internazionale.
Dal 2013 la ricerca ha aggiunto due specifici focus:
la portata innovativa dell'ottica basata sulla centralità del learning anche alla luce del capability approach: la prospettiva delle capacità come ragione critica per una nuova learning society;
le politiche per l'istruzione superiore (higher education) nei paesi del Golfo. Il caso di studio dell'Arabia Saudita.

La docente è in congedo dall'1 ottobre 2017 al 30 settembre 2019.
Le tesi richieste negli scorsi anni accademici da parte degli studenti hanno riguardato gli interessi di ricerca della docente, nonchè i contenuti dei corsi tenuti.
